Have Good Tires on Your Vehicle? Our 2012 Summer Driving Tips! - Salerno Tire

posted on

Schedule an Appointment if your vehicle could use a good tune-up or tire check from our certified tire and auto repair technicians.

Summer is here with its hot temperatures and longer daylight. With summer here it also means that more people are hitting the roads for summer road trips and summer cruises around the city. What people may not know is that summer driving is just as dangerous as winter driving. Studies show that traffic accident fatalities increase in the summer due to the fact that people tend to spend more time on the road.

Charles Powell, creator of Passing the Written DMV Test suggest that everyone brush up on their defensive driving skills in order to safeguard their families and themselves every summer.

We should always be cautious and respectful to others on the road no matter what weather conditions are. So when driving this summer make sure you follow these few simple guidelines when driving to keep your families and loved ones safe.

Don't speed – Don't be such in a hurry to get to were you need to be. Give your self enough time to get to your destination. Don't be a last minute person who speeds on the roads weaving in and out of traffic endangering peoples lives.

Be aware of the road ahead – Pay attention to the road, looking farther ahead so you can detect and avoid any dangerous situations before or as they happen. Such as children and/or pets running into traffic, or cars coming to a abrupt stop.

Give enough space – Don't tail gate, give yourself enough space from the driver in front of you. The rule of the roads say that you should leave a 3-second gap between you and the driver in front of you.  This is so you have enough time to react to any abrupt stops.

Proper signaling – Signal your intentions on the road. The rule of the roads say that you should signal for at least 3 seconds before switching lanes or turning. The point of signaling is to let other people know what you are doing in advance.

If we all just follow these simple common sense rules on the road, we can ensure that we all have a safe summer. If your in need of some new tires, an alignment, rotation, tune-up, or even safety and emissions, make sure to schedule an appointment with us so we can get you back on the road safely.
